Permission to use archival materials is granted to students and researchers upon completion of an application form. Use of materials is recommended after a reference interview with the reference archivist at UMJA or the Social Welfare History Archives to determine useful collections and documents. Please call the UMJA office at 612 625-1092, or email Susan Hoffman at history@jhsum.org to arrange for an interview. Materials will be retrieved for you, and must be used in the Archives and Special Collections Reading Room on the second floor of Andersen Library. Reading Room Hours (link) vary during the Semester and summer sessions. The materials may be used whenever the Andersen Library is open, and do not circulate. Reading Room services include photocopying and scanning, both fee-based. Please check with the Reading Room staff for further information about services. The UMJA is open 8:30 - 4:30, Monday through Friday. Appointments recommended.
