History Day

The Jewish Historical Society of the Upper Midwest has been a source for successful History Day projects for several years. We are pleased to have recently supported notable projects that included the founding of Mt. Sinai Hospital, settlement of displaced persons in WWII, and “Kid Cann” and Minneapolis’s North Side,. This year’s topic, “The Individual in History: Actions and Legacies” is well represented by the following individuals with material in the JHSUM and other local collections:

These are just a few of the individuals who made an impact on the state of Minnesota and nation who are represented in The JHSUM archive. Their stories are different in scale and impact, but all of them have roots in the Jewish community and a hand in making American social, political or cultural history.

If you are interested in finding out more about these people, or have a project idea and want to know more about what we have in the Archives to support researching and writing about it, please email Susan Hoffman, JHSUM/UMJA Archivist, at shoffman@jhsum.org, or call at 952 381-3364.
