Who is on staff to care for this enormous collection.
Well there is Jean Tretter - founder and caretaker of the collection. Beyond Jean,
there is.. how shall I put this... NO ONE ELSE. Yes, that’s right folks, no other staff.
Jean is 1/2 time staff at the Andersen Library, although he’s so dedicated to his
work he usually puts in full time hours!!
Budget cuts in 2002 and 2003 have hit the University hard, and the Library system is
not immune. So for the foreseeable future, additional staff is not in the picture.
This staffing shortage means some important things are not happening. Things such as:
- Cataloging existing items
- Digital imaging of items
- Doing community outreach and education
- Preserving the life stories of our aging community leaders
- Setting up special exhibits and displays
