The Committee for Institutional Cooperation (CIC) is an academic consortium consisting of the eleven universities of the Big Ten athletic conference and the University of Chicago. CIC was established in 1958 and is "committed to advancing academic excellence by promoting and coordinating collaborative activities and sharing resources. Its programs and activities extend to all aspects of university activity except intercollegiate athletics." Programs offered through CIC include the Traveling Scholar Program, Center for Library Initiatives and Alliances for Expanded Study in Overseas Programs (AESOP).
