Historical Note

The Minnesota Rehabilitation Association (MRA) is a chapter of the
National Rehabilitation Association (NRA) which has been in existence since
1923, though not continuously and with different names. The purpose of the NRA
is to advance rehabilitation for all physically and mentally handicapped
persons, by increasing public understanding of the social and economic gains of
helping all handicapped persons to become fully-participating members of
society, and by encouraging an interdisciplinary approach to rehabilitation by
utilizing knowledge and skills across all professions. The NRA is not a
professional organization, but its role is to help provide opportunities for
professional growth as it relates to rehabilitation, with the goal of
transcending any one profession.
