		  Archives as a gift from Beatrice Saunders and Betty Sancier, as authorized by
		  the Affilia Editorial Board, beginning in June 1991. Subsequent editors Carol
		  Meyer, Emma Gross, and Miriam Dinerman have sent additional materials at
		  regular intervals since then.</p>

		<head>Historical Note</head> 
		<p><emph render="italic">AFFILIA: Journal of Women and Social Work</emph>
		  is a feminist publication that was formed by a group of social workers in 1986
		  through a collective, voluntary effort. <emph render="italic">AFFILIA</emph>
		  was originally published by The Feminist Press at The City University of New
		  York, but has been published by Sage Publications in Newbury Park since Spring
		  (Volume 3, number 1) of 1988. Beatrice Saunders was the journal’s Founding
		  Editor. Subsequent editors-in-chief have been Betty Sancier, Carol Meyer, Emma
		  Gross, and Miriam Dinerman.</p>

		<head>Scope and Content</head> 
		<p>Included in the records are administrative records, such as board
		  meeting minutes, policy statements, financial records, production files,
		  subscription materials, and general correspondence. Also included are editorial
		  files, which contain submitted drafts of articles, reviewers' evaluations
		  (ratings sheets), the final edited versions of articles, and related
		  correspondence. Rejected manuscripts were not transferred to the Archives, but
		  ratings sheets (with names effaced) for these are included in the records. The
		  Archives also maintains a full set of the journal published to date, which is
		  located in the periodicals collection.</p>
