		<head>Biographical Note</head> 
		<p>Ella Richards was a pianist and piano teacher in St. Paul, Minnesota.
		  She was a serious student of the piano, spending two years of study in Vienna,
		  Austria, funded by the Schubert Club of St. Paul. Ms. Richards gave piano
		  lessons until she was 91; she passed away in 1959 at the age of 93. </p>

		<head>Scope and Content Note</head> 
		<p>The collection contains the papers of Ella Richards, a piano teacher
		  and pianist. The materials include photographs, letters, cards, programs,
		  invitations, clippings, transcript of a radio program and a published article
		  written by Ms. Richards about her time spent studying in Europe with the
		  pianist Leschetizky. Her letters include correspondence with Lucile and
		  Clifford Curzon, Jan Smeterling, Myra Hess, Arthur Schnabel and Katherine
		  Goodson. </p>
