Collection was donated by Dr. Carl Sheppard and Lana King in 1972.
The Center Opera Company of Minnesota was founded by the Walker Center Arts Council in 1963. In 1969, the Opera became independent from the Walker Arts Center and changed its name to the Minnesota Opera in 1971. Since January 1985, the Minnesota Opera has performed at the Ordway Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Minnesota Opera continues to perform new operas and classic masterpieces. It is currently the 16th largest opera company in the country.
The collection includes board meeting minutes, financial statements and records, annual reports, correspondence, membership information, memoranda and correspondence on speakers, ticket sales information, information about educational and publicity activities, programs and photographs.
