In 1959 the Fridley Women's Club organized a small volunteer theater
troupe under the name of The Little Theater group. Soon after, the group was
renamed the Footlighters and incorporated as a non-profit organization. After a
slow start, the Footlighters theater group was very successful for eight
seasons. Three plays were offered in a typical season, one at Thanksgiving, a
children's play at mid-winter, and a comedy in the spring.
