Biographical Note

Frederick Strauel was born in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, on August 3,
1887. He worked at Clausen, Burch and Pillsbury as an engineer for a short
time, then was employed in the engineering department of the Tri-State
Telephone and Telegraph Company in Minneapolis for five years (1908-1913). Much
of his career was spent as a draftsman in the firm of Purcell andamp; Elmslie
(1913-1931). Strauel maintained their office in Minneapolis during the 1920s
after the partners left the state. Later, Strauel was a Project Supervisor for
the Civil Works Administration and the Minneapolis City Commission
(1944-1950s). Frederick Strauel died in Minneapolis in June 1973.
