	 <bioghist encodinganalog="545"> 
		<head>Biographical Note</head> 
		<p>Grover Dimond, Sr., was born in 1888. He received his Bachelor of
		  Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1912
		  and was active in his firm for more than thirty years. In 1941, he established
		  Grover Dimond Associates, a St. Paul architectural and engineering firm which
		  was eventually taken over by his son. Grover Dimond died in 1977.</p> 
		<p>Grover Dimond, Jr. was born in Minneapolis on May 21, 1915. During
		  World War II he worked for Curtiss Wright aircraft company in St. Louis. He
		  graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in
		  Architecture in 1949, and became a partner and later president of Grover Dimond
		  Associates. In 1975 the firm ceased operation and he retired. Dimond died in
		  Roseville, MN on Nov. 12, 1993.</p>

		<head>Scope and Content Note</head> 
		<p>In this collection are original drawings for nearly 100 structures
		  designed by the Grover Dimond Associates firm from the 1950s to the 1970s.
		  Among the types of buildings represented in the collection are banks,
		  residences and commercial/industrial structures. Included in the collection are
		  drawings for the St. Paul Capitol Skyway Building (1969-1970); Lakewood (MN)
		  Community College (1971); Gillette State Hospital (St. Paul, 1954);
		  Griggs-Midway Building (St. Paul, 1955-1956); O'Halloran and Murphy Mortuary
		  (St. Paul, 1960); and Hoerner Waldorf Corporation (St Paul, 1960). There are,
		  in addition, plans of buildings by other firms, including the State School for
		  Girls, Sauk Centre, Minnesota (1912) by Clarence H. Johnston, Sr. and Dayton's
		  Department Store, St. Paul (1963) by Victor Gruen of Los Angeles.</p>
