Arrangement
The collection is arranged in approximate chronological order, as some
cassette tapes include recordings for two separate occasions. The file titles
were transcribed from the cassette tapes. When two titles are included on one
tape, both titles are listed, separated by a semi-colon [;].
Biographical Note
Dr. Victoria Frenkel Harris, author of
The Incorporative Consciousness of Robert Bly (Southern
Illinois University Press, 1992), received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in English
from Illinois State University, and her Ph.D. in Communication and Culture from
the University of Illinois. She is Professor Emerita in English from the
Illinois State University. Harris presented a paper at the 2009 "Robert Bly in
this World" conference sponsored by the University of Minnesota Libraries
entitled: "Robert Bly: Still Taking on the Wor(l)d".
Scope and Content Note
This collection contains audio recordings of poet, translator, social
critic, and publisher, Robert Bly reading his and others' poetry. Other notable
poets who are recorded in this collection include T.S. Eliot, Louis Simpson,
Gary Snyder, Tomas Tranströmer, and William Carlos Williams.
