		<head>Biographical Sketch for Harold C. Deutsch</head> 
		<p>Harold C. Deutsch was a professor of History at the University of
		  Minnesota whose research interests focused on World War II. He was a native of
		  Milwaukee, Wisconsin and received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1929. He
		  came to the University of Minnesota at that time and during his tenure served
		  as chairman of the History Department. He retired in 1972.</p> 
		<p>During World War II he served on the Board of Economic Warfare and
		  with the Office of Strategic Services. After the war he worked as an
		  interrogator of German war criminals at Nuremberg.</p>

		<head>Scope and Content Note</head> 
		<p>The Deutsch papers comprise declassified Office of Strategic Services'
		  reports that are naval, military, intelligence, diplomatic, and technical
		  studies prepared largely by the U.S. military utilizing decoded and translated
		  enemy communications. The reports are from the SRH, SRMA, SRMD, SRMF, SRMN
		  series. </p> 
		<p><emph render="bold">Acronyms: </emph>SRH -- Special Research History;
		  SRMA -- Discrete Records of Historical Cryptologic Import: U.S. Army; SRMD --
		  Discrete Records of Historical Cryptologic Import; SRMN -- Discrete Records of
		  Historical Cryptologic Import: U.S. Navy.</p> 
		<p>Also included in the collection are transcripts of interrogations of
		  German officials from World War II.</p>
