		<head>Biographical Sketch for E. Hoffmann Price (1898-1988)</head> 
		<p>E. Hoffmann Price was born in California, educated at the US Military
		  Academy, and served in World War I in the US Cavalry. He turned to full time
		  writing in the 1930s and was a prolific writer of pulp fiction including
		  adventure, western, and weird fiction. He was friends with many writers of the
		  great pulp magazine fiction era, including H. P. Lovecraft and August Derleth.
		  Price died in 1988.</p>

		<head>Scope and Content Note</head> 
		<p>The collection contains photocopies of typescripts for two sets of
		  memoirs written by Price: <emph render="italic">Trooper of the 15th
		  Horse</emph> and <emph render="italic">Friends of Yesteryear: Fictioneers and
		  Others.</emph> The latter has been published as <emph render="italic">Books of
		  the Dead; Friends of Yesteryear: Fictioneers &amp; Others</emph>, edited by
		  Peter Ruber and published by Arkham House in 2001. The manuscripts include
		  biographical essays about many of the writers that he knew.</p>
