		<head>Biographical Notes</head> 
		<p>Howard Phillips Lovecraft was born in his family home in Providence,
		  R.I. in 1890. He was a precocious child, reading and writing before he was of
		  school age. He had a troubled childhood and never graduated from high school.
		  He began writing fiction in 1917 and engaged in prolific letter-writing
		  throughout his life. He died from cancer in 1937.</p> 
		<p>E. Hoffmann Price was born in California, educated at the US Military
		  Academy, and served in World War I in the US Cavalry. He turned to full time
		  writing in the 1930s and was a prolific writer of adventure, western, and weird
		  fiction. Price died in 1988.</p>

		<p>The microfilmed collection contains correspondence exchanged between
		  Howard Phillips Lovecraft and Edgar Hoffmann Price on literary matters, between
		  October 3, 1932 and November 11, 1937. Price is believed to have donated the
		  original letters to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.</p>
