Bovey Autograph Collection (Mss 40), Literary Manuscripts Collection, University of Minnesota Libraries, Minneapolis.
The autographs were purchased by Kate Koon Bovey, wife of Minneapolis industrialist Charles Cranston Bovey, from 1927 to 1932. She offered them to the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota for the Library in 1941.
The documents are arranged alphabetically.
The collection contains signed autographed letters, signed documents, and signed photographs of notable persons from the United States, England, France, Germany, Austria, and Russia. The earliest document is a 1541 document signed by Francis I of France. Other noted persons include Queen Elizabeth I, George Eliot, numerous American presidents, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Marie Antoinette, Emile Zola, plus numerous luminaries from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
