		<head>Biographical Sketch for Haydon Lemaire Boatner (1900-1977)</head> 
		<p>Boatner was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1900 and graduated from
		  the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 1924. He served in the
		  China-Burma-India Theater during World War II and commanded General Stilwell's
		  headquarters in 1942. He retired as a Major General in 1960.</p>

		<p> The collection includes General Boatner’s 50-page statement refuting,
		  rebutting, and correcting certain passages in Ms Tuchman’s book, which refer to
		  either General Boatner’s career in the China-Burma-India theatre, World War II,
		  or to events in which he participated. In addition, there are 10 "Enclosures"
		  of documents supporting Boatner’s statement. A copy of a cover letter signed by
		  John K. Fairbank is also included, along with an outline biography of General
		  Boatner’s life and career.</p>
