Biographical Note
Author and radio commentator Clara Chapline Thomas Aldrich was born in
Richmond, Indiana in 1884. She attended the University of Minnesota where she
was an editor of the
<emph render="italic">The Gopher</emph> and wrote
occasional articles for
<emph render="italic">The Minnesota Daily</emph>. After
graduation in 1900 she taught classics for three years and then became a
reporter and columnist for the
<emph render="italic">Minneapolis Tribune</emph> and a
radio commentator for WCCO in Minneapolis. She wrote numerous novels, short
stories, and articles. Her novel
<emph render="italic">Enchanted Hearts</emph>, was adapted
for Broadway under the title
<emph render="italic">A Prince There Was</emph>, and was
later made into a movie of the same title. Aldrich died in 1967 in
Minneapolis.
