		<p>Materials are open to research without restriction except for portions
		  designated as restricted, confidential, or sealed. For the latter material,
		  prior permission in writing from the President of the Minnesota Orchestral
		  Association is required. </p> 
		<p>Permission to examine this collection will be granted to any qualified
		  researcher upon completion of an application form. The original documents do
		  not circulate and may only be used in the Reading Room of the Manuscripts
		  Division.</p>

		<p>Photoreproduction and audio reproduction of any materials in which the
		  Minnesota Orchestral Association holds copyright, shall be performed only with

		<p>Transferred from the Orchestra from 1970s to the present. Records
		  (Series 12.3, Boxes 5-9) were transferred from the University of Minnesota
		  Music Library in July 2000. The DAT recordings were transferred to the Archives
		  by the Orchestra Librarian in 2009. </p>

		<head>Scope and Content Note</head>
		<p>This collection is an incomplete set of recordings made by the
		  Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra. </p>
		<p>The master audio tapes in <emph render="bold">Series 12.1</emph> are
		  generally 10" reel-to-reel tapes and require careful assessment. Reformatting
		  may be required. They are from the tenures of Maestros Skrowaczewski and
		  Marriner. The 50+ tapes in <emph render="bold">Series 12.2</emph> are mainly 5"
		  and 7" reel-to-reel tapes that also require appraisal and reformatting. They
		  are mainly from the era of Maestro Skrowaczewski, but a few are from the 1940s
		  and early 1950s.</p>
		<p>The records (78 rpm and 33 rpm) and compact discs in
		  <emph render="bold">Series 12.3 and 12.5</emph> are generally in good
		  condition. Included in the collection is a copy of the first recording made by
		  the Orchestra in 1925 under Henri Verbrugghen that features "Waiata Poi."</p>

		<head>Related Material</head>
		<p>Many of the Orchestra's master tapes reside in the Library at
		  Orchestra Hall along with other Orchestra recordings. Audio tapes of the
		  Orchestra from broadcasts on KSJN Radio are located in the station's audio
		  archives. There are also tapes in the KUOM Radio collection in the University
		  Archives, University of Minnesota.</p>
