Permission to examine this collection will be granted to any qualified researcher upon completion of an application form. The original documents do not circulate and may only be used in the Reading Room of the Manuscripts Division.

The collection is organized in rough chronological order.

Boxes 1-2 Susan Kodner's files, 1980-89 Boxes 3-4 Miscellaneous Pops files, 1989-95 Historical Note

Popular concerts have been part of the Orchestra’s season from the early years. Planning and administering the pops concerts have been the responsibility of various staff members over the years. These records are mainly from the office of Susan Kodner, Audience Development Administrator in the 1980s and early 1990s. Other files are from the Operations Department and from Polly Barten.

 Scope and Content Note

These are an incomplete set of records relating to Pops concerts. In the 1980s they focus on Night at the Pops, an early-summer group of concerts. The 1990s records are for Cabaret Pops. Night at the Pops files document some artistic planning but mainly focus on audience development: which groups purchased tickets, what benefits were part of the Pops season, and related activities.
