The Foreign Communities Department of the Young Womens' Christian Association of Greater Lansing (Michigan) was established in 1924, and was the first such department organized by the YWCA. During World War II, it was renamed the Nationality Communities Department. The Department was discontinued in 1955.

Scope and Content

Records (1925-1961) of the Young Womens' Christian Association of Greater Lansing (Michigan), Nationality Communities Department, include annual reports (1926-1949), a scrapbook of programs, club announcements, and newsletters (1926-1931), records of the Thistle Club (ca. 1928-1951), and photographs. Programs of the of Caledonian Club, the Foreign Students of Night School, German Dramatic Club, Syrian Mothers Club, Syrian Sisterhood, and Young Phoenician Society, as well as membership lists, are also included.
