<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>An engineer, Serhij Syla Yermolenko (1905- ) was born in Koliadivka, Ukraine. He was educated at the Mining Academy, Pribram, CSR and at the University of Prague and worked as a mining and civil engineer until he came to the United States after World War II, where he was an engineer at Univac (now Unisys) in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Yermolenko was active professionally and in the Twin Cities Ukrainian community; he held various offices in social, cultural, church and political organizations.</p>

<head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>Papers (1943-1981) of Yermolenko include correspondence, minutes, financial records of the Ukrainian Cultural and Arts Club of Minnesota; records of the Commemorative Committee for the Famine in Ukraine; material pertaining to the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America--Minnesota Branch; and records, including photographs, of the Ukraïns'ke Zaporizhske Kozatstvo (Ukrainian Free Cossacks), whose headquarters were in Europe (1941-1945) and Chicago (1960-1975).</p>
