<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>During World War I the United States Committee on Public Information, Division of Work with the Foreign Born, published and disseminated materials intended to inform persons of foreign origin residing in the United States of their rights and obligations. These materials were published in many languages.</p>

<head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>Records (1916-1919) include financial correspondence; miscellaneous publications; transalations from foreign newspapers (especially those from Germany); bulletins of the Chamber of Commerce of the U. S. A., Immigration Committee; leaflets pertaining to the 1918 4th of July celebration; and pamphlets in many languages on Americanization. Newspaper reports include those from The Frankfurter Zeitung, Berliner Tageblatt, and Vorwarts on the Russian Revolution and conditions in Russia. Correspondents include John A. Wedda and George Creel. Also included is information on the work of the Polish National Committee.</p>
