Franca Tognotti-Martin was born in Tuscany and eventually settled in Charleston, W.V., after coming to the United States. She served as Grand Recording Secretary of the Order Sons of Italy in America, Grand Lodge of West Virginia (1977-1987).
The Franca Tognotti-Martin Order Sons of Italy in America collection (1965-1987) consists of West Virginia Grand Lodge correspondence (1971-1985), Grand Convention materials (1965-1987), local lodge correspondence, newsletters, and lists of officer and members (1967-1986). Also included are a Supreme Lodge directory, several financial reports and a Public Relations Commission Report (1981-1982), along with a booklet and poster fromthe 1983 West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival.
