Biographical/Historical Note

Srbadija was founded in 1920 when two lodges split from the group Sloga to from Srpski Savez Svesna Srbadija (headquarters, New York) and Srpski Potporni Savez Jedinstvo (headquarters, Cleveland, Ohio). Srbadija's purpose was for mutual benefit of members, as well as social, intellectual, education, and religious advantages. In 1928, Srbadija united with Sloboda in Pittsburgh to form Srpski Savez Sloboda; this organization merged with Srbobran-Sloga to form the Serb National Federation.
