<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>The Swiss Italian Sausage Factory was established by Luigi Magnaghi in 1927. It was one of a dozen Italian sausage factories in San Francisco manufacturing primarily dry salame. The family business existed until 1968 when it sold out to the San Francisco Sausage Company.</p>
