<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>Public School 20 served the Jewish Lower East Side of New York. Its graduates included Edward G. Robinson, Paul Muni, Sen. Jacob Javits, George and Ira Gershwin. It is the only elementary school in New York with an alumni association.</p>
