Joseph Pavlícek (1890- ) was born in Rozsochy, Czechoslovakia. He immigrated to the United States ca. 1908 and lived from 1909 on in St. Paul, Minnesota. Pavlícek was a long-time member and officer of the St. Paul Sokol Gymnastic Society, served as president of the Northern District of the American Sokol Union and was a chief promoter of the Sokol summer camp in Pine City, Minnesota. His participation in other Czech American organizations included work as a representative for the St. Paul International Institute, relief work for Czechoslovakia during World War II and membership in the Czech Society of America and in Lodge Orel (St. Paul, Minn.) of the Western Bohemian Fraternal Association.

Scope and Content

Papers (1923-1959) of Joseph Pavlícek (1890- ) pertain mainly to his activities in various Czech American organizations. Included are biographical information; correspondence; newspaper clippings; financial records; and scrapbooks.
