<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>Stefan Osusky (1888- ) was born in Slovakia and came to the United States after completing elementary school. He received a law degree from the University of Chicago. During World War I he worked for creation of an independent Czechoslovak state. Following the War, he served in the diplomatic service of Great Britain and Switzerland, and from 1931-1938 was the Czech ambassador to France. After Munich, he joined the Benes government in London.</p>

<head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>Papers (1914-1937) of Stefan Osusky (1888- ) contain his personal and professional papers and writings, largely pertaining to the movement for Czech independence, negotiations of President Woodrow Wilson with Emperor Charles of Austria, relations between the Czech national Committee and the French government, Hungarian involvement in World War I, the economic situation is Austria-Hungary prior to World War I, Michal Korolyi's visit to the United States, and Louis Kossuth. Also included are bulletins of the SLovak World Congress, correspondence, and poetry.</p>
