A scientist and zoologist, Serhij Krascheninnikow (1895- ) was born in Sluzk, Byelorussia. After completing his education, he taught veterinary medicine at the University of Kiev and the Ukrainian Academy of Science (Kiev), then in Bila-Tserkva, Ukraine, and in Munich. He came to the United States after World War II, and taught at the universities of Pennsylvania and Miami, then worked for the United States Department of Agriculture. He received awards and grants for his work in zoology and parisitology, and published widely in those fields. He also contributed articles on Ukrainian culture, sometimes using the pseudonymn Suhak.
