<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>The Ukrainian Knowledge Society of New York City, Inc., was founed in 1908 and charted in 1910. Its purpose was to unite the Ukrainian-Rusins residing in New York and the surrounding areas, and to provide financial aid in case of illness.</p>

<head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>Recoreds of the Society (1908-1948) include constitution, membership lists, minutes, receipt books, and miscellany. Also included are 31 notebooks of Ukrainian plays produced by the Society, and two notebooks of songs and poetry by Konstantin Shynkar.</p>
