Biographical/Historical Note

Victor Kielkowski (b. 1896) was born in a village near Lipno, Poland, and educated at a teachers college in Wymslin. During World War I, he was evacuated to Kharkov and then completed army infantry officers' training school. He fought the Bolsheviks and, when his regiment disbanded, returned to Poland. There he continued his career in the gendarmerie and in the army until he was compelled to immigrate because of unspecified difficulties concerning his position. Kielskowski came to Chicago, Illinois.
