<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>Monsignor Edward Kassal (1876-1965) was born in Polna, Bohemia, and came to the United States from Czechoslovakia in 1905. He served for 60 years in Slavic Catholic settlements near Dickenson, North Dakota; in Jackson, Owatonna and Winona, Minnesota; and in Eastman, Wisconsin.</p>
