Papers of Safira (Oksanen) Kallio consist of handwritten manuscripts of her poems. Included is a photocopy of a translated memoir called "Memories of My Trip to This Country in October and November 1913 (And a Bit After Arrival)."

 Scope and Content

Safira (Oksanen) Kallio was born in Finland on April 12, 1894 and emigrated to the United States in 1913. She served as a local correspondent from Owen, Wis. for the Finnish American newspaper Minnesotan Uutiset (later Amerikan Uutiset). Much of her poetry was published in the newspaper.
