<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>An educator and politician, Károly Hokky (1888-1970) was born in Abaujszepesi, Hungary and educated at the universities of Budapest and Kolozsvár. Hokky taught school; served in the military during World War II; organized the Christian Social Party in Carpathian Ruthenia and served in the parliaments of Hungary and Czechoslovakia. Following World War II, he came to the United States as a refugee.</p>

<head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>Papers (1954-1970) of Károly Hokky (1888-197?), a Hungarian American educator, include correspondence, especially with Maria Ugron Podhorszky; papers; and writings. Hokky served in both the Czechoslovak and Hungarian parliaments as a representative from the Carpatho-Ruthenian area before his escape following World War II.</p>
