Fortune Gallo (1878-1970) was born in Torremaggiore, Italy, and came to the United States in 1895. He worked as impressario and manager of opera companies and founded the San Carlo Grand Opera Company; the Fortune Gallo Concern Company; Fortune Gallo Enterprises; and Fortune Gallo Musical Company. His autobiography, Lucky Rooster, was published in 1967 by Exposition Press (New York).

Scope and Content

Papers (1930-1960) of Fortune Gallo (1878-1970), founder and director of the San Carlo Opera Company, consist of his "personal" books, and programs and newspaper clippings and opera directories describing the work of the Company.
