<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>Alberto Cupelli (b. 1905) was born at Cosenza, Italy, the son of Decimino and Rosina (Spena) Cupelli. He came to the United States in 1932 and was naturalized in 1944. Cupelli was the Italian consular agent in New Haven, Connecticut and an associate editor of Il Mondo in New York. He was active in the Italian anti-fascist movement in the United States and was co-author of Gli Italiani in New York.</p>

<head>Scope and Content</head>
<p>Papers (1933-1973) of Alberto Cupelli (b. 1905), an Italian American journalist and consular agent, consist mainly of correspondence and newspaper clippings relating to his role as the Italian consular agent in New Haven, Connecticut and to his involvement in the Italian anti-fascist movement. Correspondents include Walter Toscanini and clippings about his father, Arturo Toscanini. Correspondence relates to, among others, Angelo Guidi-Flavio; Luigi Giovanolo; John Santangelo; Mario Einaudi; Serafino Romualdi; Mario Cingolani; Fiorello LaGuardia; and Governor and Mrs. John D. Lodge.</p>
