<head>Biographical/Historical Note</head>
<p>A fraternal and cultural organization, the Polish National Alliance of U.S. of N.A. was founded in 1880. The Alliance sponsors dance groups and bands, sports programs, a Debutante Ball, Christmas programs, a library, and an archives. It also owns and operates Alliance College in Cambridge Springs, Pennsylvania, and offers scholarships and loans to college students. The Alliance has ca. 317,000 members with 1350 local branches. It is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.</p>
