In October 1953, an IBM 701 computer was delivered to North American Aviation (NAA) in Los Angeles, California. In order for the engineers to learn to use the computer in their particular fields of engineering, classes were conducted in applications programming. Florence Anderson was one of the programming instructors at NAA.
The collection contains brief outlines maintained by Florence R. Anderson, a programming instructor for North American Aviation, of applications programming classes developed at NAA for the IBM 701 and IBM 704, as well as minutes, reports, and manuals related to the development of PACT I (Project for the Advancement of Coding Techniques).
