The RAND Corporation sponsored a five day symposium, March 16-20,
1959, on mathematical programming for computers in Santa Monica, CA. The
symposium showcased linear programming and recent extensions and featured
speakers from business, industry, and academia.

The collection includes a program and copies of some of the papers
presented at the RAND Corporation Symposium on Mathematical Programming in
1959. Also included are background materials, consisting of pre and post
symposium papers and other materials on mathematical programming, and reprints
of articles on mathematical programming.
