 Organization of the Collection

The collection is organized by type of material.

 Scope and Content Note Scrapbook contains programs and clippings from 1906-08. There are a few Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra programs and a number from the Johnson School of Music. Clippings are from 1986-97 and include obituaries of Orchestra music directors and musicians and other items relating to the Orchestra. Why Do You Always Insist on Playing When I'm Trying to Conduct? is a 5-page typescript of sayings of Eugene Ormandy perhaps recorded by a musician that may reveal something about Ormandy's conducting style. Examples: "There has been confusion since I stood here 35 years ago;" "During the rests - pray." Newspaper pages regarding the Orchestra from the 1940s. Index Terms
