Biographical Sketch

Erik Blegvad was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1923. He graduated from the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts in 1944. He served in the Royal Danish Air Force from 1945 to 1947. He has had a long career as an artist and illustrator. He immigrated to France in 1947 where he was a free lance artist. He immigrated to the US in 1951 where he became an illustrator of children's books. He immigrated to England in 1966 and returned to the United States in 1986. He has won numerous awards for his illustrations, mostly pen and ink. Biographical Source: Something About the Author, v. 132, pp. 17-22.
