Biographical Sketch

Ann Knowles was born November 25, 1933, in Oxford, England. She became an English teacher and writer. She says that when she writes for children she does not 'write down' to them, but tries to write a story that will tempt them to read, and will stretch their ability to understand. Although she has illustrated for others, she has not illustrated any of her own books.
