Biographical Sketch

Marion Dane Bauer received her BA from the University of Oklahoma in 1962, and began her teaching career in Waukesha, WI. She has taught in the Hennepin Technical Center (MN), the University of Minnesota Continuing Education program, the Institute for Children's Literature, and Vermont College of Norwich University. Bauer's writing includes young adult fiction dealing with difficult issues and moral dilemmas. She also writes chapter books for beginning readers, picture books and how-to books on writing for young people. Her work has won awards and citations from ALA, Booklist, ABA, and other organizations. She is also the recipient of the Kerlan Award, 1996.
