		  Sketch</emph></head> 
		<p>Satomi Ichikawa was born and raised in Gifu, Japan. She moved to Paris
		  in 1971, where she was greatly influenced by the art of Boutet de Monvel. She
		  has written and illustrated several books designed to introduce the very young
		  to reading. She is known for her ability to depict the world of children in a
		  manner that transcends restrictions or nationality or man-made boundaries. </p>
