		<p>Thomas Handforth was born September 16, 1897, in Tacoma, WA and died
		  October 19, 1948, in Pasadena, CA. Handforth was an artist, illustrator, and
		  children's author. He has art work in permanent collections at Metropolitan
		  Museum of Art, New York City, and Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England.
		  He won the Caldecott Medal, Association for Library Service to Children, 1939,
