		<p>Harvey Schmidt (born September 12, 1929 in Dallas, Texas, U.S.) is an
		  American writer of musical theatre, best known for composing the music for the
		  longest running musical in history, <emph render="italic">The
		  Fantasticks</emph>, which ran off-Broadway from 1960 - 2002 for a total of
		  17,162 performances at the Sullivan Street Playhouse. He also collaborated on
		  the 2000 feature film adaptation.</p>
