Biographical Sketch

Cyndy Szekeres was born October 31, 1933, in Bridgport, CT. She became a writer and illustrator of children's books, illustrating all of the many books she has written, and also illustrating for other writers. An early job illustrating children's fashions for a department store, in which the children had always to be well-groomed and perfect, was, she felt, a negative influence on the way she wanted to draw, eventually leading her to focus more strongly on anthropomorphic animals, and eventually animals only, in her book illustrating.
