Richard Armour was born July 25, 1906 in San Pedro, CA. He began his
education at Pomona College, receiving his bachelor's of arts, which lead him
to Harvard University to pursue both his masters and his Ph.D. in 1933.
Maintaining his pull in academia, Armour became a permanent fixture as a
professor in colleges all throughout the country. He was dean of faculty at
Scripps College, beginning in the 1960s. Author of over sixty books, Armour's
contribution to the written world was indispensable. His prosaic and poetic
pieces appeared in over two hundred periodicals, all the while writing the
widely syndicated newspaper column "Armour's Armory". Richard Armour died in
1989.
