Biographical Sketch

Shirley Climo was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1928. She attended DePauw University, married, and had children. Her aspiration to be a children's book writer was fulfilled in the late 1970s when she started writing books for young people after beginning her writing career with a series of newspaper articles and travel and humor pieces written for adult magazines. She has written children's picture books and juvenile historical novels and mysteries. She has also published travel guides for young tourists.
